One Assistant Mistress, Miss Heang, forms a

Special Class. She is an Australian Chinese with 22 years of most valuable service in the Belilios Public School for

Girls. Her scale is $2400-240-3600. She is on her maximum

of $3600, and I recommend that her scale be extended to a maximum of $4200 by annual increments of $120.

These proposals if approved as from January, 1927, will mean an increased expenditure in 1927 under Education Department Personal Emoluments of about $12,000 on the 1926 total of $648,531. A comparative statement of the present scales and those proposed in this despatch is

enclosed.
